Definitely a kids bow – I mean that in the best possible way. The kids love it, it is light and easy for them to shoot, it is giving them confidence. It beats the tar out of the Bear “First Shot” (I like Bear bows, I have a Cruzer and a Super Kodiak, just not the first shot). Anyway, this is a real bow, for smaller, weaker people. Well made, looks nice, shoots smoothly. I like that the limbs can be attached with the thumb screws, it allows the kids to assemble with no help from me. Get a stringer for it (really please do, don’t mess up the limbs), a glove or tab, and some cheap carbon arrows and maybe a nock kit and takedown case; with that kit, the kids will be ready to go and shoot with the adults.

Got a SAS Explorer for my son and a SAS Spirit Jr for my daughter. She LOVES this bow. The fact in comes in left handed is a major plus. Did a lot of research on these before I bought them and I must say, I’m impressed. If you’re on the fence about archery and getting your kids outdoors more, I encourage you to invest in this healthy, amazing sport that improves hand-eye coordination and gets them moving/thinking about their posture.Easy to string with a little instep and body weight. Accurate as the day is long. My daughter wants to custom paint the limbs and riser to her favorite colors and I believe this is the perfect bow to do that with.

Couldn’t figure out what to buy my daughter for her 8th birthday. We “winged” it and decided to see if she would be interested in learning archery. As a parent and novice, I did a lot of reading on the subject to make sure we got a good setup that would keep her interested and allow for advancement. Other child based bows may work well, but I was looking for more authenticity, and ability to transition to an adult bow in the future. This bow definitely meets the mark when it comes to my requirements. We purchased the 20lb bow, and she is doing very well after just a few practice sessions in the house. Other things I purchased with this bow were: bow stringer/ finger savers for the string/ carbon arrows/ stick on arrow rest/ youth arm guard.

Very happy with this recurve bow! I’m a short woman (5′ 1″) so this youth recurve works well for me. Great vendor.

Gave this to my 9yo son as an Xmas gift. The bow I got is physically the same as the one offered but the limb says “Jandao”, not “Spirit”. I didn’t buy it for the labelling, so I’m not going to ding it for that. No instructions, but I knew that based on previous reviews. Extremely well made and finished, including the hardware and bowstring. The 18lb. pull is perfect for my son. There are some predrilled holes in the riser/handle, which I assume is for sights. I purchased “Shiny Black ® Fiberglass Target Practice Arrows 22″ for Children” with it, that I’m not impressed with. I’d suggest 30″ arrows for this bow. Most of the online instructions call for a bow stringer. You don’t need this to assemble it. See my instructions, below. One or both of the limbs will be labelled, one “lower” the other “upper”. This is a right-handed bow. Hold it in your left hand and that will show you which limb goes where. Note that the tips of the limbs face forward, not backward. Firmly tighten the screws. One of the loops on the bowstring is larger than the other. Place that loop over the end of the upper limb and slide it down. Place the smaller loop over the lower limb nock (notch) and pull up until it is seated, orienting the string to the rear of the limb. It will hold it’s shape to a degree as it is treated with some material, maybe wax. Place the lower limb on carpet, butting the rear of the lower limb against your right foot. Place the tip of your left foot on the tip. With your left hand (or with assistance), gently compress the bow down and slide the larger loop of the bow up until it is in the nock (notch). Gently uncompress the bow making sure both loops stay seated in their respective nocks. That’s it.
